Tis’ the season for acts of kindness — one donation at time

As the festive season is nearly upon us, we at TelXL are reflecting on the importance of giving back to our local community. During this special time of year, we’ve made it a tradition to support charities that play a vital role in helping families and individuals in need. This year, we’re once again supporting three incredible local organisations: St Stephens, Acts of Kindness, and The Trussell Trust. These charities are instrumental in supporting local families of all faiths and backgrounds, providing essential aid, comfort and joy during what can be a challenging time of year.

Each of the charities we support addresses a unique aspect of need within our community. St Stephens works tirelessly to provide a safe haven for those in crisis, offering emergency support, food and shelter to those who need it most. Acts of Kindness focuses on bringing joy to children and families by offering toys, gifts and food to brighten their holiday season. The Trussell Trust, one of the UK’s largest food bank networks, helps alleviate hunger by providing emergency food to individuals and families in crisis.

These organisations not only meet immediate needs but also provide a sense of hope and dignity to those who are struggling. The work they do is essential, particularly at this time of year when the cold weather, financial strain and social isolation can make life even harder for those in challenging circumstances.

Our ongoing commitment

This year marks the fourth year we’ve carried out this charitable initiative, and our commitment to supporting these organisations remains strong. Over the past three years, our collective efforts have raised an impressive £2,420, which has helped provide food, toys and other vital contributions to those in need. In addition to the funds, we’ve also donated car boots full of food and toys — efforts that have made a real and lasting impact in our community.

At TelXL, we believe that every contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a difference. That’s why we’re inviting all our employees to take part in this year’s charity initiative in a way that suits them best. Here’s how you can get involved:

• Order a toy or bring one in: Whether you order online or pick one up in-store, we are collecting toys for children aged 0-18. This simple act of kindness can bring so much joy to a child in need this Christmas.
• Donate food items: Non-perishable food donations are always needed, especially for the food banks we are supporting. Staff bring in items such as canned goods, pasta, rice and toiletries—items that will help provide for families during the holiday season.
• Make a monetary donation: If employees prefer, they can make a financial donation. TelXL’s People Team, also known as our 'happy elves', collate the funds and purchase gifts and food for the charities, ensuring that they are distributed to those who need them most.

At TelXL, we pride ourselves on our core values of integrity, community and social responsibility. We understand that as a business, we have the power to make a positive impact beyond our day-to-day operations. Organising charity events like this gives us the chance to work together as a team and contribute to the wellbeing of the local community. It’s a privilege to be able to support families in need, and we’re incredibly proud of the efforts our employees put in each year.
