If you sell contact centre technology through the channel, you will have noticed that every vendor conversation now ends up in the same place. Whatever the platform, whatever the programme, the message to partners in 2026 is that AI is where the growth is.

The numbers back that up. Contact Babel's September 2026 report, *AI in UK Contact Centres: The Reality*, found that 70% of UK contact centres expect their AI budget to rise over the next two years, and just 1% expect it to fall. AI already accounts for 13.4% of contact centre and CX technology spend.

That's exactly why it's worth slowing down and asking what each pitch means for your business, your customers and your own margin structure.

**What Partners Are Being Told**

The pattern is easy to see once you look for it. Vendors across the industry are frequently telling partners that those focused on its contact centre and AI products are overperforming, with a push to enable partners to become AI transformation experts. There’s movement from vendors who are building programmes around recurring revenue from AI-ready customer experience in the SMB market, with reseller, referral and white-label managed service tiers.

Other vendors are pointing the AI message at a different kind of partner. Some contact centre vendors have launched programmes for technology and integration partners, aimed at software companies building around the platform rather than at the reseller selling it. Beyond contact centre vendors altogether, the big distributors are launching AI services programmes for managed service providers, complete with marketplaces for AI agents.

Put together, the story partners are hearing is consistent: AI is the new revenue line, managed services are how you capture it, and you will need to build real expertise to compete.

**The Part Nobody Is Saying Loudly**

An analyst note from Omdia in July 2026 put the other side of this plainly. Its argument was that AI puts pressure on the commercial and labour models that managed services have been built on. In other words, the same technology that creates the opportunity can also compress what a partner earns from the services wrapped around it, if the partner treats AI as one more thing to resell and manage by hand.

The Contact Babel research adds a second problem: a lot of the AI already sold isn't proving its worth. Between 36% and 47% of UK contact centres running AI can't say whether it performs better or worse than a human agent. 31% have stopped, paused or rolled back an AI deployment, and 67% of those blamed accuracy or reliability. A third of current voice Bot users want to replace what they have.

That matters to you, because the customer usually remembers who sold it to them. Most vendor pitches skip over this. A programme can hand you an AI product and a strong slide deck, and still leave you holding all of the difficult questions: who owns the customer, how much specialist knowledge you need before you can sell it, whether you can prove it's working, and what happens when the vendor's own sales team shows up in your account.

**Five Questions Worth Asking Any Vendor**

Whichever vendor is pitching you, these five questions cut through the AI messaging quickly.

1. **Does the vendor sell direct as well as through partners?** A vendor with its own sales team is, by definition, a competitor for some of the accounts you work on. It isn't necessarily a dealbreaker, but you should know how conflicts are handled before you invest in a joint pipeline.
2. **Whose brand does your customer see?** If the AI product and the reports it generates carry only the vendor's name, your customer relationship is partly the vendor's. That matters more than it used to. Contact Babel found that IT holds the AI budget in 41% of organisations, but contact centre operations is held accountable when AI goes wrong in 47%. The people who decide on renewal are the ones looking at the reports every week, so it helps if your name is on them.
3. **Do I need to become an AI specialist to sell and support it?** Some products really do require deep technical expertise from the partner. Others are packaged so that a partner with solid contact centre knowledge can sell them confidently. Your customers are short of that expertise too: 27% of UK contact centres name a lack of internal AI skills as a barrier, even though 28% say they want to build more in-house. Whichever route you take, make it a conscious choice, not a surprise at implementation.
4. **Does it work on my customers' existing platforms?** Your customers are not all on the same contact centre platform, and many won't be moving anytime soon. 65% of UK contact centres already get most of their AI from somewhere other than their contact centre platform provider, and ease of integration is the second-biggest buying criterion at 68%. A product that only works if the customer changes platform is a much harder first conversation than one that sits on top of what they have.
5. **How quickly can I get to a first deal, and can I prove it works?** Enablement, certification and onboarding matter, but the real test is how long it takes a new partner to go from signing to a live customer, and what support exists in between. Ask too how you'll show the customer it's working. ContactBabel recommends testing accuracy on real traffic as part of selection, because accuracy is the main reason AI gets pulled and it can't be judged from a brochure.

**Where TelXL Stands on Each**

Since we're asking vendors to answer these, it's only fair to answer them ourselves.

**Direct sales:** TelXL is channel-only. There is no direct sales team and no account conflict to manage.

**Branding:** It depends on the product, and we're clear about which is which. Cxp Insights is fully white-labelled. Cxp Analytics carries your brand first. Alix is TelXL-branded.

**Expertise:** The products are packaged so a partner can sell them, without needing to become an AI specialist first.

**Existing platforms:** Cxp Insights, Cxp Analytics and Alix all work with the contact centre or telephony platform a customer already runs, with no migration. That takes the platform question out of the first meeting.

**First deal and proof:** Onboarding, presales and marketing support come from a UK-based team, to get you to a first customer without a long ramp. Cxp Insights gives your customer a clear baseline before they commit, and Cxp Analytics gives them ongoing evidence of what's working, which is exactly what the 36% to 47% who can't measure their AI are missing.

That isn't a claim that nobody else can answer these questions well. It's a suggestion that you should ask to all of us, and judge the answers rather than the pitch.

**The Takeaway**

AI is a real opportunity for partners, and every major vendor knows it. The partners who benefit most won't necessarily be those who sign up to the loudest programme. They'll be those who work out early which model leaves them owning their customers, their brand and their recurring revenue, and who can show their customers the AI is delivering. Then they build around it.
